DvB New Additions: The Burke Museum’s Gizmo Door

The Gizmo door is an exciting feature of The Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture. It is designed as a liftgate constructed of iron and glass, and operates with the exertion of human energy. A person turns a wheel and the wall moves. The operator then becomes part of the natural world and the natural world becomes part of them, as the door cannot move until someone engages with it.
