The California College of the Arts (CCA) recently completed an 82,305 sq ft campus expansion in San Francisco— designed by Studio Gang and completed in 2024— that establishes a vibrant indoor-outdoor hub for learning and art-making. Positioned as a creative engine, the building physically extends CCA’s main academic structure while introducing biodiverse green terraces, outdoor maker yards, and two pioneering exposed mass-timber pavilions—among the first of their kind in California. Its passive strategies, such as façade self-shading and night-flush ventilation, support ambitious sustainability goals including targeting carbon neutrality and net-zero energy.
