Fayetteville, Arkansas’ TheatreSquared is a professional theatre that has become a pillar of the community in a small town. After fourteen years in the multipurpose room of a performing arts center, TheatreSquared carried out their vision for a new, permanent space.

The design team prioritized achieving perfect acoustics in the new building by using concrete boxes, as well as creating wide rows of seating that allowed the entire audience to be close to the stage. This closeness is something guests and artists loved about the previous space, and TheatreSquared wanted this feeling to translate to their new home.

Kebony modified wood with a Shou Sugi Ban charred finish complements the board-formed concrete on the exterior of the building, aligning with TheatreSquared’s commitment to sustainability throughout the duration of the project.
